CoolSculpting Frequently Asked Questions

What is the science behind CoolSculpting?

Cryolipolysis is the science behind CoolSculpting. It is the cooling of adipose tissue that freezes and kills fat cells without hurting any surrounding tissue. Once the fat cells are targeted, they freeze, die, and the body eliminates them naturally over time.

Is there evidence that supports CoolSculpting results?

There are more than 100 peer-reviewed published studies on CoolSculpting being an effective treatment for non-invasive fat removal. Studies have also been printed in leading journals Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery. CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved procedure used as a body contouring tool.

How long to see CoolSculpting results?

Clients usually see fat removal results in 2-4 months post-treatment and several sessions may be needed to achieve the best body-contouring results.

How is CoolSculpting different from surgical fat removal?

Fat removal procedures such as liposuction are invasive surgeries that require downtime and post-treatment rest. CoolSculpting is non-invasive and offers little to no downtime. It is also safe and effective.

Post-Treatment

Patients sometimes report minor bruising and redness after a CoolSculpting session. Sometimes mild numbness and tingling occur in the area post-treatment.

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

Patients looking for fat-bulge reduction in target areas of subcutaneous fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise may find CoolSculpting is right for them. CoolSculpting is not used to treat weight loss or obesity.

How is the cooling technology applied to the body?

CoolSculpting applicators are attached to the targeted fat area to freeze the cells stimulating the process of fat removal by pulling the fat tissue in between two cooling panels into an applicator cup area.

CoolSculpting is a fat-freezing procedure that targets stubborn and unwanted fat. It works well for people who have trouble eliminating fat pockets and bulges through regular diet and exercise. CoolSculpting applicators treat subcutaneous fat which is the fat just under the skin. It is a non-invasive, fat-removal procedure that can be done in several sessions with little to no downtime. Sessions run about 30-60 minute per target area and patients may need a series of appointments to achieve optimal results.
